Amanea Newsletter

After three years of operations, Linking Cultures is pleased to announce the launch of its maiden edition of the “Amanea” Newsletter. You may wonder why we have chosen to call it “Amanea”. Well, when any visitor calls on any family or individual in Ghana, the custom is for the host to offer his visitor some water, then to ask the mission of his guest. The host will usually say: “All is well here. You came this way, so what is your mission or ‘A●ma●nea’ in Akan/Twi”.

Linking Cultures, we are going JOOMLA!

You don’t need to be a web guru to tell that our website needs update. Yes, because website designing is expensive in Ghana, we have in the past been running our website on programs such as Site Studio. Unfortunately, such programmes are restrictive in their design and do not create professionally looking websites either.

Volunteer/Internship Opportunities to Increase

canons at cape coast castleLinking Cultures is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation that specialises in organising educational programs for high school and university students abroad and locally. Based in Ghana, West Africa, programs offered by Linking Cultures are aimed at projecting African cultural and historical heritage to the outside world, through educational tours built around field trips, community services, lectures and workshops.

With Linking Cultures, you will have the opportunity to learn about indigenous Ghanaian culture and customs by observing cultural dance ensembles, marriage and naming ceremonies, etc. You will also have the privilege to explore the famous Elmina and Cape Coast Castles and discover the roles caves, dungeons and forts played in the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. A canopy walk through our rain forest at Kakum National Park affords participants the opportunity to learn more about our floral species and the medicinal value they offer the local Ghanaian. A tour of the seat of the Ashanti Kingdom, the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, reveals the history of famous Ashanti legends, which are told with relics and artefacts from museum to museum.

And there is more. Linking Cultures advertises volunteer and internship opportunities for interested university students and individuals abroad and locally. Owing to our many years in Ghana and the strong relations we have with renowned Ghanaian lecturers and educational institutions, every program run by us is organised with the right calibre of faculty to suite every discipline or field of study.

So, is your school thinking of organising summer programs in Africa? Do you want to volunteer or intern in Africa? Are you interested in taking sometime off in Africa or does the thought of immersing yourself in some of West Africa’s most vibrant cultures excite you? If yes, then look no further.
